Shop those stores to benefit ERMA

There are easy ways to support ERMA PTA and school year-round. With the Holidays upon us, chances are, you're out shopping.
Here are a couple of ways to make your shopping benefit ERMA, by Co-President Gretchen Harmon

Hello Eagle Rock families!

We wanted to let you know about two easy, painless ways to support ERMA through your shopping. 

The first is Amazon Smile. A percentage of your purchases on Amazon through the Smile link are donated to ERMA. If you go to this link it will explain how to set up your account. The only downside is it isn't accessible if you shop on your phone with the Amazon app. It has to be on a computer.

The second is with your Fred Meyer card. You have to set up an online account for your membership card before it can be linked to ERMA. When I recently did this it kept telling me I couldn't link to community rewards. Had to leave the page and come back to my account. Just so folks know it might take a couple tries. Our account number 80517. If you don't already have a Fred Meyer card, you can get one in stores. But then you have to go online to set up your account and link it to ERMA.

'Tis the season.

Many families are busy preparing the Holidays, running from store to store to find the perfect present for a loved one.

Save yourself some time and support ERMA PTA at the same time by shopping Amazon Smile! It works just like your regular Amazon account but also give back a pourcentage of your purchase to our PTA.

Another great option is to order some of our Spirit Wear for the entire family. A great way to show your Eagle Rock pride.

Fall book fair is open for business!

Starting today, Tuesday Nov 15th and until Thursday Nov 16th , the bookfaire is open in the Big Room before class, at recesses and 15 minutes after class.

Hi ERMA Families!

I just wanted to send out a reminder that the Scholastic Fall Book Fair is officially open for business tomorrow, Wednesday, November 15th, in the big room!  As I mentioned in my previous email, the dollars/points generated by all the sales go directly back into supporting literacy at Eagle Rock. The Book Fair is not only a great way to support our school but it is a wonderful way to get everyone excited about reading! It is also a great place to get an early start on your Christmas shopping! :)

The teachers each have a box that they have filled with books that they would love to have in their classroom libraries.  If you want to buy one or a few for your favorite teacher(s), please just come on in!

If you can't make it to our Book Fair, you can also help support our school by shopping online. All orders ship free to the school and you will have access to an expanded book selection. In the last few days, your child had an opportunity to attend a preview where s/he created a Wish List. I was sure to emphasize that these were just ideas of some books/items s/he was excited about and by no means to expect to get all of them. :) We will be open at the lunch and last recess tomorrow.  I will also come in a few minutes after school in case any family would like to come and shop a few minutes at that time.  Please note, if your child is planning to shop at this time, be sure their money is in something secure. Also, it is important to let them know that each book price does NOT include tax and it will be added on at the register. Hopefully, that will help in budgeting their purchases. :)

Reflections Gala is November 30th

Reflections in full swing. The participating children are hard working on this year's theme:

Reflections is a National PTA cultural arts competition.  The competition is divided into 6 categories:

• Literature – works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, prose, drama, short stories and lyrics.
• Music Composition – original musical composition, with or without words.
• Photography: color or black and white, included techniques: photogram, negative sandwich, and multiple exposure.
• Visual Arts: drawing, painting in tempera, oil, acrylic, watercolor & t-shirt paints, computer generated art, two-dimensional collage, printmaking, needlework & leather tooling. 
• Film/Video: original works, with or without sound, of animation, narrative, documentary, experimental or music video/film.
• Choreography/Dance: originally choreographed dance composition.

The entry deadline is November 9th.

After the submissions are reviewed and judged, we are delighted to invite you to a

Family Pottery Painting Night

And Reflections Gala

November 30th. 

Check your children's home folders if you haven't seen the form yet or click HERE.

On that evening, you get to look at the amazing art work submitted, celebrate all our Reflections participants and finalists but also you get to make your own art with your family just in time for the Holidays.

NOTE that there is an order form included. Make sure to return it to the office by November 17th.

Spooktacular Science is today!

Children are having fun today. As part of our Spooktacular Science Day, they get to experience activities both spooky and science based.

In Room 1, building a catapult and practicing their aim.

In Room 2, the oh-so-popular Dangling Donuts will make an appearance.

In Room 3, the labyrinth of terror is full of fun experiments.

*Among other things.

Don't forget to send us your pictures!

General Meeting is October 26th

The next PTA General meeting will be held October 26th in Room 3.

Childcare is available in the Big Room as well.

We have a lot of things to discuss on our agenda so join us and get heard.

High Tea books and rules now online!

Check out our High Tea page for all the details about this year's High Tea program. It's a perfect opportunity to discover new books and make those hungry reader devour new adventures.

The High Tea Celebration date has not been confirmed yet but will be sometime in April 2018.
